Vuse devices are pretty hi-tech – and from the atomiser to the battery unit, there’s a lot going on inside them. These finely crafted components make your vaping experience top quality, so you need to take care of them, and store your device correctly.
Don’t worry, it’s not complicated. Here are five things you can do to keep your device in good condition:
1. Don’t leave your device in direct sunlight. Or, for that matter, in front of direct sources of heat. This goes for your eLiquids as well – if they’re left in direct sunlight they could start to oxidise and lose their flavour.
2. Store your device at room temperature. Extreme temperatures can cause damage to its more intricate components. As a rule, store it between 0 – 25°C.
3. Don’t leave it somewhere damp. Electronics and water aren’t the best of friends, so it’s best to avoid leaving your device (or using it) in excessively humid environments.
4. Try and store it upright. You know those little holes on the side of the clearomiser? They let air in and regulate the temperature when you’re vaping. However, if you leave your device on its side for a long time, liquid can seep out of them – so try to keep it upright if you can.
5. Use a case. Our devices are pretty robust, but wear and tear is inevitable. Keeping your device in a case will help keep it in (crisp) mint condition for longer.
If you own a Vuse PRO, Vuse ePen or prefer disposable vapes, understanding how to store your device can help ensure it works as intended.
Whether you want to put away an empty vape, keep extra e-liquid cartridges safe for the future or find somewhere suitable to keep your device at home or on the go, read on to learn more.I would add Vuse ePen, Vuse ePod or Vuse PRO to cover all basis so consumers know Vuse PRO is the next generation ePod as ePod is not available on website anymore
Why does vape storage matter?
Vape devices can be sensitive to extreme temperatures and other conditions encountered in daily life. With some understanding, properly storing your vape couldn’t be simpler. So, why does vape storage matter?
- Helps maximise vape life. Keeping your device away from certain conditions can help maintain the battery and avoid overheating.
- Prevents accidental damage or breaking. Storing your device in a suitable place can help avoid it being knocked over or dropped.
- Maintains performance. Proper vape storage can help preserve the freshness of e-liquid and the performance of your device.
How to store your vape device and e-liquid
Whether you want to store a vape device or are looking for information about where to keep spare e-liquid cartridges, the most important considerations include keeping your devices and e-liquids at room temperature, out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources.
You should also keep vapes and e-liquids away from moist conditions (rain or extreme humidity), children and pets.
1. Clean the mouthpiece
Before putting your vape away, it’s a good idea to wipe it to clean off any dirt or debris that may have accumulated throughout the day. Wipe the mouthpiece with a dry paper towel to keep it clean.

2. Protect your device and e-liquid from light and heat
Storing your vape and e-liquid (including any spare e-liquid pods) away from direct light and heat sources can help maintain freshness. Direct sunlight and high temperatures can affect the quality of e-liquid nicotine and flavour, so it’s best to store everything in a cool, dark place, like a drawer or cupboard.
3. Keep away from children and pets
If ingested in liquid form, e-liquid can be harmful, especially to children and animals who cannot tell you if they’ve consumed something accidentally. Storing your vape device and spare e-liquids in a locked cabinet or out of reach is best to stay safe.
4. Store e-liquid in its original container
Keep e-liquid in its original cartridge or bottle, designed to prevent exposure to air and light. It’s best (and easiest) to store e-liquid in its original container when not loaded into your vape device.

5. Stand your vape pen upright
Storing your vape device upright can help prevent e-liquid from leaking, whether in a cartridge, tank or loaded inside a disposable vape.
The effects of sunlight, heat and air on vapes
Keeping your device out of direct sunlight and away from heat can help maintain e-liquid freshness. From maintaining your vape in daily conditions to travelling or taking it to festivals, it can help to understand the effects of sunlight, heat and air on vape devices.
How sunlight and heat can impact e-liquid freshness
Direct sunlight and warm conditions can affect the freshness of e-liquid. Exposure to these conditions can speed up the ageing process (oxidisation) of propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG), the ingredient base of all vape e-liquids.
When exposed to light and heat, the propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin molecules in e-liquid separate from each other and cannot recombine, even when the liquid returns to a cooler temperature.

What happens if e-liquid expires or oxidises?
E-liquids expire, so check the date if you have been storing bottles or cartridges for a while. Expired e-liquid may have a compromised nicotine strength or flavour.
Oxidisation is a natural process that happens when e-liquid is exposed to oxygen from the air. This can cause e-liquid to turn brown. While it might not look as good as new, oxidised e-liquid is okay to use as long as it hasn’t also expired.
How long can vape devices and e-liquids be stored?
Vape devices can last over 12 months if properly maintained, although this may vary depending on user behaviour. Battery efficiency may deteriorate over time, depending on individual usage. This is common with all lithium-ion batteries. If your vape battery deteriorates, you can continue to use your device but may need to charge it more often.
Vuse PRO devices have their expiry date clearly marked on the box, so check your e-liquid hasn’t expired before loading it into your device.
